Security upgrade

We have now completed most of the security upgrade work which became necessary due to the break-in. Many of you will have seen the new interior locking system on the north doors of hangar 102. We have replaced all the firedoors with new, very strong, very well attached versions. Three of these have normal burst bars for emergency exits. Please ensure that you positively close these when leaving as the self closers do not always engage the locks. The fourth door on the SW corner has a combination lock fitted and is the initial means of access for all at the start of the day. When you next visit please get Colin or myself to demonstrate the mechanism and give you the code.

The anti ram internal portcullis will completed later this week to secure the interior of the roller shutter door. 3 anti ram posts will be fitted to the external area of the roller door.

We are researching CCTV cameras, more of that when we have made our decision.

Image Project

Eventually we have got back to the list of jobs to improve the facilities for residents. Jobs completed this last month include:

Concrete repairs inside entrance of hangar 102

Concrete repairs to West side of apron outside 102 including drain.

Concrete repairs to East side of apron will be completed this week

4 large holes on the roadway filled, more this week

First Devonair sign fixed to VGS posts just up the hill from the entrance gate. All signs in phase 1 are on site and posts need to be located in concrete prior to their erection

New Tractor and brand new flailer arrived ..

Grass cutting in most of the extended area of our demise

Taxiways repeatedly cut and edges graded

Trees removed from entrance drive to ensure full taxi clearance

Arrivals & Departures

The Sky Diving simulator – based on a 45ft trailer unit arrived. It has been parked outside 103 whilst being readied for its first event at the F1 GP Silverstone last weekend. Paul has a long list of inevitable teething problems which will get sorted before the next outing.

First fuel delivery at LR is due later this week. Expect the prices to be around £1.45 incl.

BarBeQue looks like being early August due to other commitments. Fairford happens this coming weekend. Although not directly affected there are special procedures on the notice board for anyone planning to flying out of the immediate area between Thursday 12 th and Tuesday 17 th

Reminders

Please ensure that you book in and out on the from provided on the notice board. Put this in last month but still a few people forgetting that it is a legal ( CAA ) requirement.

Watch Out’s

The contractors are harvesting the grass on the airfield after weather related delays. Please keep a sharp lookout for tractors and large bale filled lorries moving around the airfield and taxiways. They know they have to give way but….
