Devonair at Little Rissington

Devonair recently relocated to Little Rissington at the beginning of 2007, taking up residence in the two southern hangars on the airfield, hangars 102 and 103.

The airfield is still M.O.D property and 637 Volunteer Gliding School operate their Vigilant T.1 motor gliders at the weekends.

We aim to provide a friendly GA airfield, capable of handling day visitors who may wish to stay on the airfield or explore the surrounding cotswold countryside. With nearby Bourton-on-the-Water, Stow-on-the-Wold and Upper and Lower Slaughter there are plenty of picturesque places to see.

Devonair is in the process of improving the facilities at the airfield. The hangars were previously set up by the USAF as storage for drugs and mortuary supplies for the Gulf War, fortunately they were never used for this purpose.

Opening all the main doors has been a major task in itself, especially when we discovered one of the wheels had been removed.

After Replacing the missing wheel and removing several years of birds nests from the runners, we had working doors.

We now have electrical power from our new 165 kVA 3-phase generator. We are seeking to install a wind turbine between the two hangars to provide our electricity.

We have cleared the taxiways around the hangars of trees and concrete posts. Grass taxiways are used to access the runways.
